Inspired by woods that are deteriorated resulting in a collaboration with nature and other living organisms who left an impression in the wood. I mostly carve woods like neem tree, mangrove , mahogany, teak and any found wood in my community. What interests me most about this woods is the fact that they bear witness to daily activities in a specific moment in time. Resulting in the change of shape and form of these woods not to forget they hold in them embedded stories of the past and present moment of a specific environment in our society.
The scars on the woods serve as a path guiding my gauges in the process of working, influencing the form in which I present my final piece. Sometimes I polish the works or leave them to further deteriorate creating a new meaning and effects.
